Yes. Clover devices can give cash back on a PIN-debit sale. You set the maximum. Clover does not publish one required dollar cap or one required customer fee. Credit cards and contactless wallets do not dispense cash.

How to turn it on

  1. Cash back applies to PIN-debit sales. It does not apply to credit cards, and contactless wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) do not hand over bills.
  2. Set the maximum to what the drawer can pay. Clover stores this as the merchant’s max cash back. Stores commonly pick $20, $40, or $100. That number is yours, not a Clover default you have to use.
  3. Open payment settings on the Clover dashboard (Settings, then Payments) or in the Setup app on the device, and set that maximum. The menu label differs by device — Station, Flex, Mini — and by cashier versus restaurant mode.
  4. Restaurant mode is built around tips. If you do not see a cash-back maximum, the device configuration or the processor account does not include it. Clover documents cash back as a supported device option, not as a switch on every account.
  5. Your debit pricing still applies. Clover does not publish a national cash-back fee. Charging the customer an extra fee is the store’s choice.
