Does Toast Do Cash Back?
No. Toast does not give guests cash back when they pay by card. Toast’s help center says Toast does not support cash back on card payments. There is no cash-back button to turn on.
The 1% figure is a different product
Toast Checking pays the restaurant 1% cash back on eligible purchases made with the restaurant’s own Toast debit card. That is a rewards rate. It does not let a guest take bills out of the drawer, and Toast’s rewards terms exclude cash withdrawals.
Cash discounting is not cash back
Toast Dual Pricing and cash discounts lower the check when a guest pays with cash. They do not hand the guest extra cash on a debit card. A restaurant that wants people nearby to know it can provide cash lists the restaurant separately. It does not come from a Toast setting.
If guests ask for cash back, Toast cannot put it on the card payment. List the restaurant only if you will hand cash as its own exchange, off the Toast check.
