Does Square Do Cash Back?

What “Square cash back” usually means
Search results mix up three different things: Cash App, card rewards, and bills from the register. Only the third one is cash back at checkout. Square does not do that third one. A guide that tells you to open Settings, then Payment Types, then Cash Back is describing a menu Square does not have.
What you can still do
You cannot add cash back to a Square debit total. Handing a customer cash has to be a separate exchange, not a line on the Square charge. Clover is a register that can do PIN-debit cash back, if you are choosing a POS for that feature. If the shop already takes Square and you still want people who need cash to find you, list the store and keep that exchange off the Square transaction.
List the store if you will hand cash as its own exchange. Do not add it to a Square debit sale. Square’s terms treat that as a cash advance.
