Does CVS charge for cash back?

It is not free everywhere: cash back costs $0.50–$3.50 at Kroger, $1–$2.50 at Dollar General, $1 at Dollar Tree and $1.50 at Family Dollar.
Does CVS do cash back at self-checkout?
Yes. CVS offers cash back at self-checkout as well as at staffed registers.
How to get cash back at CVS
- Buy at least one item. Cash back is added to a purchase and cannot be requested by itself.
- Pay with a debit card, insert the chip and enter your PIN. Credit cards are not offered cash back.
- When the terminal asks "Cash back?", choose an amount up to $60.
- Take the cash from the cashier or the self-checkout dispenser. It appears on your receipt and bank statement as part of the purchase.
If you tap your phone or card and the terminal skips the cash back question, the payment ran without a PIN. Ask the cashier to void it and insert the card instead.

Yes. CVS offers cash back at self-checkout as well as at staffed registers.
Does CVS do cash back with tap to pay or Apple Pay?
Not reliably. Cash back runs as a PIN debit transaction, and a tap from a phone or contactless card often goes through without asking for a PIN, so the terminal never shows the cash back option. If you tap at CVS and are not offered cash back, insert the chip of your debit card and enter your PIN instead.
Can you get cash back at CVS with a credit card?
No. Cash back at the register needs a debit card (or a prepaid card) and a PIN. A credit card purchase at CVS will not offer it.
